Our group has been invited to contribute a review titled "Research Progress on the Migration Pathways of Wheat Stripe Rust in China" for the special issue commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Journal of Plant Pathology.
This article systematically reviews the progress made over the past 70 years by four generations of rust disease researchers in China regarding the identification of pathogenetic centers and transmission pathways of wheat stripe rust. Through methods such as field investigations, population genetic analysis, and air trajectory modeling, a comprehensive research framework has been established, which is "grounded in field investigations, centered on population genetic analysis, and validated by air trajectory modeling." The review highlights pathways that require further verification, explores the potential of integrating cutting-edge technologies to refine and detail transmission routes, and proposes a shift from qualitative to quantitative research. These efforts lay the foundation for developing sustainable strategies for controlling wheat stripe rust.
